The 11th hour is truly an eye opener
type of movie. A documentary that tells the truth happening in our world from
the industrial revolution up until the present year. Humans hold the
responsibility of the effects of nature’s revolution against humanity. The
outcome of the activities such as burning fossil fuels, generating gas fumes,
production of carbon dioxides contribute to the increasing percentage of
pollution appear around the earth’s atmosphere. It seems that I also felt
responsible about these phenomena. Indeed, humans are opportunist, and do all
kinds of necessary action in order to survive. Without the activities of
hurting the environment, we might still be in the state where only half of the
present world’s population is living. However, people are using resources like
there’s no tomorrow. The production of papers from cutting down trees is vital
for a student like me. There are many trees cut down compared to the seeds that
is planted by people. Honestly, there’s a feeling of regret every time I throw
a bunch of used papers. My conscience triggers and telling me to recycle papers
and to thrift resources. What can I do? What can be my biggest contribution to
the world and help the environment?

Nature has gone into self-restoration by the
means of plants. Mushroom mycelium has power inherent to remediate environment,
prevents downstream pollution from viruses, protozoas and others. They are also
capable of breaking down a wide assortment of pollutants. This is something
that we don’t usually get informed about. We might need to mimic their
abilities and help restore nature.

Shell or bones among humans and some animals are
formed without the use of massive amount of heat. They’re formed naturally, in
room temperature and such. There’s a master of chemistry. Spiders form their
web naturally. There is plenty of information that needs to know. There’s a lot
of research to do in order to fully understand the nature’s processes. It’s good
to know that there are scientists who are already on the track of research on
how to mimic the species’ abilities of production.

Eating locally produced food helps in hindering
global warming. Buying local foods prevents the need for using fuel-energy transportations.
Imported goods really come from one location to a far location. It can’t be
help to travel the goods using ship, and airplanes. These transportations contribute
to emitting carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. So, we, as consumer, should think
of the better way of living. We should change our lifestyle. We must content
ourselves to eat locally produced goods. This might also help our own economy.

The 11th hour talks about
environmental issues. This film is not limited to view by the
environmentalists, or students. This film is for everyone. As the film convey, the
human brain is the cause of all the changes happening in the world, from the
industrial revolution up to the present. Humans are capable of inventing the
future. We are also capable for its production. We are also capable of hurting
the environment. All of us, there’s no exception to that capability.

Government is one of the factors why the
environment is suffering. There’s a greed factor in the economy. According to
Michel Gelobter, they’re only responsive to wealth, money and corporate power.
This brought me into a reminder of one of the greatest scientist in the world,
Nikola Tesla. He invented the electrical system called the Alternating Current.
But that’s not the issue. There’s news that government, way back in Tesla’s
time, made Tesla stop to invent free energy. Tesla thought to have energy
directly coming from the earth. Government, igniting their greed, prohibits
Tesla to invent again. The financer of the project shuts it down because he
thought that there would be no way of regulating energy and wouldn’t make
money. We’re close of having free and might as well a clean energy.

As the thesis project approaching, I might propose
projects that could help the environment. The use of solar panels for clean
energy, as well as integrating wind energy. I would stay away from using oil,
or any other bad energy. If this project went well, government or some
companies might struck by this project and help them in the future. This also
can help restore the environment. In the film, there are new technologies presented
that use the sun, tremble, and wind to convert it into a usable energy. We need
to have a quick transition for clean energy, that’s why the project that I might
be working in the future could contribute for clean energy.
